Why is gold so valuable?

Culture has infused the belief that gold is really valuable. It is rare and difficult to obtain therefore high in value. Surprisingly, almost all over the world its considered valuable. It is true that as a metal it has some great properties but are we really seeing value those those properties intuitively?. Can we perceive its inherent value outside of cultural conditioning?.

I was wondering, some people are as valuable as gold or even diamonds. The metaphor seems to perfectly fit in metaphysically. Some people so perfectly fit our archetype of a perfect person, subjectively they are really as rare as gold or even a diamond. What is the chance you would meet someone at that level again in your lifetime?
