Lucid dream insight

Nowadays, I'm having a lucid dream almost everyday and the first thing that I set off to do is try to fly. Now flying in a lucid dream sounds really simple since in a dream anything is possible right. But in the actual lucid dream, it takes quite a lot of practice to acquire this skill. And I think this skill would have profound parallels in our waking life too.

There are many non obvious but pertinent aspects that need your awareness and understanding.

1. Though anything is possible in the dream environment, you need to believe YOU CAN FLY. You need to really believe this without any doubt. In a dream, your thought and reality manifestation are just split seconds apart.  Suppose you manage to start flying, the minute you think "I'm gonna fall", the slightest of doubt and your already plummeting towards the ground with momentum.

2. Once you learn to overcome the 1st problem, the 2nd aspect is to be learnt. It is about where you put your attention. While flying if I look at the ground, my mind is drawn towards that and I'm pulled down again. Whereas if i look at the distant object with full attention w/o doubt, ill fly straight to it. It is very similar to the initial stages of leaning cycling i.e. If you look at the ground you usually fall. OR you need to clearly reframe and strongly believe it. Like "Im am a bird with wings and just flap your hands and imagine your hands are the wings".

The difficult part is overcoming the expectation and conditioning from our past experiences in the real world. Even in the real world sometimes a constraint disappears from our life, but our old habit pattern prevents us from changing.

For e.g.: Its like the elephant and the thread story. A baby elephant is tied to a thread and no matter how hard he tries he cannot break free. After growing to full size, he still believes the thread can never be broken, though it would just take a fraction of a second to break it.

These subtle thoughts immediately manifest in the dream world while in the real world there is a much larger time gap. So this realm can give insight into what how even the subtle thoughts, beliefs and feelings can affect your actual intention or goal in the real world.
